Travelling by Public Transportation
Trains, Busses
Public transport in Copenhagen is generally very stable and can be done by bus (yellow), metro / underground (white), and trains (red). Tickets for public tranportation can be bought at many stores, supermarkets, and at train stations. On busses, it is only possible to buy tickets (and only using coins!), but none of the cheaper volume fares (you get on in the front end of the bus). Ticket pricing is based on a zone system. The more zones travelled, the higher the cost. The smallest possible fare is for two zones, and this covers all the bits of central Copenhagen that are relevant for the retro event. It's three zones to the airport. Volume discounts are given in the form of a "klippekort": The image shows a blue two-zone card, where each notch is valid for two zones for one hour. Two nothches / clips are valid for four zones for 1 1/2 hours. You can also buy a three-zone yellow card. You are allowed to split clips, so two people can travel from the airport to the venue on three clips on a blue card (3 x 2 zones = 6 zones; 3 zones per person).
You can plan your trip by public transportation using this planner.
Taxis
There are lots of taxis in Copenhagen - usually Mercedes cars. They all have green "TAXA" or "TAXI" signs on the roof. All trips are on the meter. Most taxis seat no more than 4 passengers. If you hail a taxi on the street, the meter starts at about 25 DKR; if you order the taxi by phone (e.g. 35 35 35 35, usually 10 minutes wait for a cab at any location in Copenhagen), it's about 33 DKR. Taxis are fairly expensive. A trip from the center of Copenhagen to the airport is e.g. around 250 DKR (go by train to the airport!), and from the center to the venue about 100 DKR.
Getting to the venue
Park is located at this address: "Østerbrogade 79, 2100 Copenhagen Ø" (map) (google satellite photo).
By public transportation
From the south end of the main train station, you can simply take bus 1A towards Hellerup and get off at walk from Gustav Adolfs Street to venue (or just ask the driver for "Park Cafe"; he'll know where that is). This bus runs quite often, and the journey should take about 25 minutes. Bus 1A also stops near Danhostel.
By train you can take most northbound S-trains (A and E towards Hillerød, B and B+ towards Holte, C towards Klampenborg, Ex towards Hellerup, H and H+ towards Farum) and get off at Nordhavn, 730 m or, for a longer, slightly more picturesque walk Østerport Station, 1.5 Km
By Car
It can be quite challenging to find parking near Park, so if you do decide to come by car, we wish you luck! Try some of the smaller side steets nearby, but be prepared to walk a bit from your parking spot to the venue. The parking rules in this part of town is 2-hour parking until 6pm. Between 6pm-8am parking is free, if you can find a spot. You must have an indicator in the front windshield that shows when the car was parked.
Getting to / from the airport
There is regular train service form the airport to the central train station (Københavns Hovedbanegård). The train ride is 12 minutes, and we recommed that you take the train rather than e.g. a taxi (Airport map) (google satellite photo of the airport). Also see the section on public transportation
Getting to the Danhostel hostel
The hostel is located very close to the city center (map) (google satellite photo). If you're arriving from out-of-town by any means other than car, take the train to the main train station. From there, it's a 900m walk to the hostel.
