I play a Levenson Blade
RH4 guitar which in my opinion is one of the greatest guitars ever
made (read a review here).
The original single-coil pickups have been replaced (by the former
owner) with two Seymour
Duncan APS-1 Standard single-coils (for middle and front
positions) and a JB Jr. Rails humbucker-in-single-coil-size pickup at
the rear position. Together with Blade's custom boost-system this
gives a very versatile array of different sound possibilites -- all
the way from jazz to hard rock. The fretboard is equipped with
jumbo-frets and although there are no string-locks at the neck it
stays in tune perfectly even when using the Falcon tremolo (another
Blade-feature). All in all a very versitale and great guitar to play.
Lately I have also bought an Ibanez S470DX (black) and fitted it with three new Seymour Duncan pick-ups: '59 at the neck, Little Screamin' Demon at the middle, and JB Trembucker at the bridge. I haven't quite gotten used to the sounds of this new guitar, but for heavy metal stuff it is quite brilliant to play. The ZR tremolo system is the best one I have ever used: It stays in tune no matter how hard you bash it.
I use a Line6 POD XT
guitarsimulator for sound-shaping. This device digitally simulates a
series of old classical guitar amps remarkably well. Instead of just
having one amp you can now switch between an array of amps and speaker
cabinets virtually. I am very pleased with it and it is very nice
to be able to carry your "sound" in a little bag instead of always
having to deal with a heavy amplifier. I also bought a Line 6
shortboard with buttons for selecting sounds with my feet as well as volume and
wah-pedals which I use a lot.
My latest addition is a BOSS ME-50 multi-effect board which I only use for pitchshifting which is really nice for weird effects. When using the expression pedal I can control the pitch of the tune and make strange noises
I have now also bought a "Line6 Filter Modeller" pedal which can make the wierdest sounds ever. Listen to the sound effects on Crazy Comets on our CD "RUN/STOP RESTORE" for example This is very good for spice for one or two tunes during a set.
